Although Call Collector may be a new name in the Australian music scene, they don’t seem like a new band. The songs have a depth and polish more typical of seasoned veterans, and it’s hard to believe that the upcoming studio album “Perceptionist” will be the band’s first release.
That’s not to say that the band has come from nowhere. Sebastien Bouchard, Scott Robinson (no longer with the band) & Mike Cullingford formed Call Collector in 2007. With a diverse range of musical backgrounds and a wealth of songwriting experience behind them, the band set their immediate focus on refining their sound and working hard to craft the album that would announce the band to the world.
With recording engineer Kieran Kenderessy (Birds of Tokyo), “Perceptionist” was born. The partnership was serendipitous, with Kieran now playing bass guitar in the band. A month in London working in Miloco Studios’ famous “Engine Room” led to the band working with producer/mixer/engineer Donald Clark (Muse, Guns ‘n’ Roses).
As the three friends prepare for the release of Perceptionist in early February 2013, Burgermeister will keep you updatd on the launch, gigs and where to buy the album.
